I Jornadas de Turismo Cinematográfico Comaraca de Guadix

The Guadix region has always been linked to the film industry. More than a hundred productions prove it: including some that rightly figure in the history of cinema, like “Doctor Zhivago”, “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”, “For a Few Dollars More”, “Reds”, “Morena Clara”, and “100 Rifles”. Its desert landscapes, with the Sierra Nevada backdrop, its rich diversity and cultural heritage linked to the brightness of the area, have captivated directors like Sergio Leone, David Lean, Orson Wells and Steven Spielberg. One of our biggest stars, the Baldwin steam engine, has shared the stage with actors such as Terence Hill and Henry Fonda. Actors and actresses, recognized internationally as Raquel Welch, Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford and even Ava Gardner, shot scenes in the land.

That the Guadix region attracted the film industry is a fact. Now is the time to seize this film legacy and make it a film destination, offering tourism products and enhancing their charms as film sets.

During the conference, audiovisual professionals discuss various strategies and tourism related to the phenomenon of film tourism, and direct and indirect benefits it can generate, for a region, to be or have been the scene of film productions.
